Electronic Arts to Develop Hits for Nintendo GameCube

EA SPORTS Best-Selling John Madden Football Franchise Comes to Nintendo GameCube

Electronic Arts (EA) (Nasdaq:ERTS), the world's leading independent video game software publisher and developer, today announced that it will bring its powerful portfolio of game titles, including Madden NFL(TM) 2002, to Nintendo GameCube, a next generation console system.

EA's worldwide studios have plans for 10 Nintendo GameCube titles.

Some EA titles in development for the Nintendo GameCube include SSX snowboarding, NBA Street basketball from EA SPORTS BIG(TM), and the world's best-selling sports video game franchise, FIFA soccer.

Madden NFL 2002 will be featured in EA's booth at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles on May 17. Last year, Madden NFL 2001 was the top-selling sports video game in the world.

"EA takes a systematic approach to evaluating new hardware platforms, and we're very excited about the potential for the Nintendo GameCube," said Larry Probst, EA's chairman and CEO. "Nintendo has a proven track record in the areas of vision, innovation and execution that positions the Nintendo GameCube to be a major force in the industry."

Nintendo of America President Minoru Arakawa says, "Electronic Arts is one of the world's best developers. We're thrilled to have the variety of games they are creating for the Nintendo GameCube, especially the sports games which appeal so well to the teen and older players."

As a dedicated gameplay system, Nintendo GameCube delivers new forms of interactive fun for players and offers the easiest development environment for game creators. The system's embedded memory, proprietary optical disc and innovative controller were designed to optimize the gameplay experience. Nintendo GameCube will launch in Japan in September 2001 and in North America in November 2001.
