New Wireless Division Debuts First Games For Mobile Devices

CALABASAS HILLS, Calif. - May 10, 2001 - THQ Inc. (NASDAQ NMS: THQI) is set to debut its 2001 product line-up, its strongest and most compelling to date, at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles May 17-19, 2001. The company will unveil games of all styles and genres for every type of videogame fan across multiple platforms. From original content for next generation consoles like Red Faction™ and New Legends™, to the most expansive kids product line in the industry featuring animated television and motion picture favorites like SpongeBob SquarePants™, Scooby-Doo™ and Power Rangers, THQ has something for everyone. Every viable game system will be represented in the THQ booth (Petree Hall #4001) including the Sony PlayStation® 2 computer entertainment system, the Xbox™ videogame system from Microsoft, Nintendo Game Boy® Advance, PC/Mac, PlayStation game console and Nintendo Game Boy Color. In addition, the company is demonstrating several new games designed for mobile devices, through its new division, THQ Wireless.

THQ’s E3 2001 Line-up

Red Faction: Red Faction revolutionizes the gaming world via its proprietary Geo-Mod™ technology that allows players to fully alter and destroy the game environment. Developed by THQ subsidiary, Volition Inc., this action thriller features a sophisticated physics engine, five controllable vehicles and intense graphics. Red Faction is scheduled to launch for PlayStation 2 on May 22 and this fall for PC.

MX 2002 featuring Ricky Carmichael: The biggest extreme sport just got bigger! Players can race like a champion, pull amazing tricks, and compete for rockstar status in freestyle mode or just cruise the open terrain. With 30 professional riders and authentic courses modeled using satellite data - it’s the complete motocross experience. MX 2002 featuring Ricky Carmichael rides to PlayStation 2 this June with plans for Xbox and Game Boy Advance in the fall.

New Legends: In development for the Xbox launch, New Legends combines intense action and high adventure with cinematic combat and an engaging story line set in a future China. Players will approach battle with the style and skill of a master martial artist, boasting the ability to wield two weapons at once while performing dramatic attacks and a selection of specialized moves. New Legends is scheduled to release this fall exclusively on Xbox.

World Wrestling Federation®: Heralded in the interactive videogame community as the definitive wrestling game publisher, THQ and Jakks Pacific’s 2001 releases will provide even more electrifying experiences for PlayStation 2, Xbox, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance and online gamers.

WWF Raw is War: All the bedlam that is the WWF comes to Xbox. It’s no holds barred wrestling, looking and playing better than ever for fall 2001.

WWF SmackDown!“Just Bring It”: Players lay the ‘SmackDown’ like never before as the SmackDown brand makes its much anticipated debut on the PlayStation 2. THQ will deliver the third installment of this top-selling franchise in fall 2001.

WWF Betrayal™: Uncover the mystery of who kidnapped Stephanie McMahon and restore the championship in the first ever WWF action-adventure for Game Boy Color. Coming this summer.

WWF Road to Wrestlemania™: Stunning graphics and highly detailed characters bring the WWF to life for the first time ever on Game Boy Advance. Featuring five in-depth game modes and more than 20 WWF Superstars®, players can compete for glory in six different match types. Coming to Game Boy Advance in fall 2001.

WWF With Authority™: A multi-player online strategy game that allows players to enjoy head-to-head matches with WWF fans around the world. Currently available for download at wwf.com, gamers can experience the WWF across the globe at any time.

Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius™: Jimmy Neutron is the star of Nickelodeon’s upcoming digitally animated motion picture, Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius. After occasionally saving the world from total destruction, Jimmy likes to hang out with his robot dog, Goddard, and best friend Carl Wheezer. THQ will be bringing Jimmy Neutron to multiple next generation systems this fall.

Rugrats™: THQ’s Rugrats titles have exceeded $125 million at retail with more than four million games sold since 1998. Now for their 10th anniversary, all of the Rugrats babies, including Chuckie’s new stepsister Kimi, will be coming to Game Boy Advance and PC in fall 2001.

The Wild Thornberrys™: From award-winning Rugrats creators, Klasky Csupo, The Wild Thornberrys rank among the top 10 kids’ television properties. Players will travel through 12 exotic levels featuring Africa, South America, Australia and even the Arctic Circle. Eliza Thornberry and her family will make their debut in The Wild Thornberrys for Game Boy Advance this fall.

SpongeBob SquarePants™: The #2 ranked show across all kids’ television, SpongeBob SquarePants is another breakout hit from Nickelodeon.

SpongeBob SquarePants™ Operation: Krabby Patty: Follow SpongeBob and his friends through the most sea-riffic adventures yet, including “Invasion of the Patty Snatchers,” “Boating School 101,” “Show Me the Money” and more. SpongeBob comes to PC this fall.

SpongeBob SquarePants™: SuperSponge: SpongeBob wants to give his friend Patrick Star an autograph from their favorite superheroes, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, for his birthday. Players help SpongeBob on his quest through the vibrant and wondrous land of Bikini Bottom. Coming to Game Boy Advance and PlayStation this fall.

Rocket Power™: Nickelodeon’s Rocket Power is the #4 ranked show across all kids’ television with more than 33 million viewers per month.

Rocket Power: Team Rocket Rescue™: Players will help the Rocket Power gang gain some much-needed publicity for their dad’s extreme sports shop by competing in rollerblading, snowboarding, skateboarding and BMX events. Rocket Power: Team Rocket Rescue comes to PlayStation in summer 2001.

Rocket Power: Dream Scheme™: There’s trouble in Ocean Shores when Otto Rocket has a nightmare that his friends have been kidnapped by the evil Dr. Stimpleton. Players will journey through 16 levels of adventure in an attempt to rescue their friends and stop Dr. Stimpleton from turning Ocean Shores into a Seaside Polka Resort. Rocket Power: Dream Scheme arrives on Game Boy Advance this fall.

Tetris Worlds™: This next generation of one of the most popular video game franchises of all time takes players to a universe where Tetris is played in different fashions on different planets. Players will be able to get their Tetris fix in the most popular versions of Tetris, or the latest cutting-edge variations of the classic game. Tetris Worlds drops in on Game Boy Advance, PlayStation 2 and PC this fall followed by a Gamecube release in 2002.

Mattel’s Hot Wheels™ and Matchbox™: Mattel’s Hot Wheels and Matchbox are two of the most widely recognized brands in toys, apparel and games for boys worldwide. Hot Wheels basic cars were the #1 selling toy in the nation last year. Mattel’s Matchbox is a $200 million brand that has been an icon for almost 50 years.

Hot Wheels™ Mechanix™: Based on the top-selling Hot Wheels Mechanix toy line, this innovative racing title allows players to modify their cars before each race. Add big tires, chopper blades, turbo chargers and more in order to conquer eight unique 3D environments. Hot Wheels Mechanix is scheduled to launch on PC this fall.

Hot Wheels™ Extreme Racing™: Customized Hot Wheels cars transform on the go for land, sea and air racing action. Players can choose from hundreds of accessories to build the ultimate racing machine, including wings, superchargers and an arsenal of pontoons. Up to four players can compete against each other when Hot Wheels Extreme Racing hits PlayStation this summer.

Hot Wheels™ Advance (working title): More than 30 custom Hot Wheels cars with their signature designs will come to life as they fly over jumps and careen around hairpin curves. Take power, performance, speed and attitude on the road as the best-selling toy makes its debut on the Game Boy Advance this fall.

Hot Wheels™ Jetz: Players will hop into toy-sized planes and fly missions of courage and bravery to save a house full of toys from certain destruction. Up to 15 different aircraft to choose from, all based on original Hot Wheels Jetz designs. A number of aerial stunts to perform including loops, banks, barrel rolls and more as players fly through eight challenging environments from the living room to the bedroom. Hot Wheels Jetz lands on PC this fall.

Matchbox® Emergency Patrol™: Matchbox County will have gamers speeding into action as they become local heroes in this interactive rescue adventure chasing down criminals as a police officer, battling blazes as a daring firefighter or saving injured victims as a paramedic. Matchbox cars have been coming to the rescue for nearly 50 years. Matchbox Emergency Patrol is scheduled to launch for Game Boy Color this spring and PC this summer.

Disney’s Atlantis, The Lost Empire: Players will be able to relive the epic adventure of the animated film as they journey to find the lost city of Atlantis. Based on Disney’s highly anticipated animated movie, Disney’s Atlantis, The Lost Empire ships for Game Boy Color in June and Game Boy Advance in fall 2001.

Power Rangers Time Force™: On the heels of celebrating its 10-year anniversary, the chart-topping Power Rangers franchise continues to dominate in the consumer category of boys, 6-11. THQ recently launched Power Rangers Time Force for Game Boy Color and is scheduled to follow with PlayStation this summer and Game Boy Advance and PC this fall.

BASS Strike™: Players will experience the thrills and action of bass fishing for the first time on the PlayStation 2. Dynamic camera action, realistic fish behavior and beautiful graphics await cyber fishermen of all ages this fall.

GT Advance Championship Racing: Intense racing action is set to launch day and date with Nintendo’s highly anticipated Game Boy Advance system. Featuring more than 40 authentic cars with parts that can be upgraded from eight top car manufacturers, GT Advance Championship Racing for Game Boy Advance is sure to turn up the heat this June.

Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase™: Mystery-solving action awaits gamers when Scooby and the gang find themselves trapped in a videogame trying to escape the perils of the Phantom Virus. This all-new interactive Scooby-Doo adventure for Game Boy Advance and PlayStation is set to launch this fall with the exclusive-to-video release, Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase.

Star Wars® Jedi Power Battles™: Star Wars continues to heat up the big and small screen. Players will put their Jedi skills to the test as they help protect the Galactic Republic from the greedy Trade Federation in Star Wars Jedi Power Battles for Game Boy Advance this fall.

MotoGP™: One of the most popular two-wheeled sports in the world, MotoGP combines the world’s best riders with state-of-the-art prototypes from leading motorcycle manufacturers. More than one million spectators enjoy the sport at trackside with MotoGP races taking place on five continents. Players can experience the thrill of MotoGP on Game Boy Advance with the recreation of 12 real bikes in the 125cc, 250cc, and blue ribbon 500cc classification this fall.
