NEW IN THEATERS
Opening in theaters everywhere this week, John Carpenter's "GHOSTS OF
MARS" features the talents of hip-hop star ICE CUBE and actress
NATASHA HENSTRIDGE. Set 200 years in the future, a small group of
police, headed by Melanie Ballard (Henstridge), is given the task of
escorting a criminal, Desolation Williams (Ice Cube), from a mining
town on the outskirts of Mars. Unbeknownst to the cops, a mining
expedition in the area disturbs an ancient defense system that
unleashes the ghosts of the Martian warriors who previously inhabited
the area. Melanie Ballard and her team band together with the
dangerous Desolation Williams in an attempt to fight the alien spirits
intent on destroying all human life. For similar sci-fi action
thrillers, check out these films on video.

NEW ON VIDEO
Coming to video on August 31 is the Australian comedy "THE DISH,"
starring SAM NEILL and PATRICK WARBURTON. Set days before the historic
1969 walk on the moon, this film chronicles the story of a group of
Australian technicians who agree to set up a satellite dish for NASA
to broadcast man's first steps on the moon. Conflict and comedy arises
when the Aussie technicians decide to place the satellite on a sheep
farm in the rural Australian outback. Cultural differences between the
Americans and Australians, the town's sporadic electricity supply, a
concerned NASA official, and the proud local people, all contribute to
mounting tension as the world depends on the Aussies for footage of
the first moon walk. Check out these other films starring these
versatile actors.
