Nintendo's platinum party provided all the perks: packed house of more than 600 attendees, top DJ's, a special musical performance by The Strokes, and this holiday's additions to its more than 180 video game library for the Nintendo GameCube, including the highly anticipated Metroid(R) Prime (launching November 18 from Nintendo), Capcom's Resident Evil(R)0 and James Bond 007(TM): Nightfire(TM), and Madden NFL(TM) 2003 from EA. The extravaganza kicks-off the nationwide Nintendo Cube Club Tour, hitting 15 cities across the country over the next two months, allowing consumers to sample the latest games and products coming this holiday season in a cool nightclub atmosphere.
"The Nintendo GameCube has received such an overwhelming response from the entertainment community that we wanted to do something special to show our appreciation," says Perrin Kaplan, vice president, corporate affairs, Nintendo of America Inc. "What better way to celebrate than by going platinum with the Nintendo GameCube in Tinseltown?"
"I've got a purple GameCube at home but I am dying for the new platinum GameCube," says Christina Aguilera. "My sister and I have Mario Party battles and I can't wait for more Mario."
The limited-edition platinum Nintendo GameCube system will have its moment in the spotlight on November 3 when it hits retailers with manufacturer's suggested retail price of $149.95, featuring a controller of the same sheen. Back by popular demand, the dazzling platinum Game Boy(R) Advance will share the stage in its limited re-release on November 3 as well, with an MSRP of $79.95.
