Peter
Main To Retire Early 2002
Peter MacDougall
to Run Nintendo of America Sales and Marketing
Effective Feb.1, 2002
Redmond, Wash.,
July 18, 2001 - Nintendo of America Inc. today
announced that Peter MacDougall, current
president of Nintendo of Canada, will become
executive vice president, sales and marketing for
Nintendo of America, effective Feb. 1, 2002.
MacDougall will replace longtime NOA executive
Peter Main, who has announced his retirement
effective Jan. 31, 2002.
MacDougall joined
Nintendo of Canada in 1989 and has overseen its
explosive growth. In his new position, MacDougall
will bring extensive knowledge of global
marketing stemming from international postings at
Nintendo, Gillette and Seagrams.
"Peter's
unique qualifications make him ideally suited for
this job," says Minoru Arakawa, president,
Nintendo of America Inc. "His breadth of
success is a distinct asset given the global
nature of Nintendo's business."
Main will retire
in January 2002 after 15 years at Nintendo. He
joined Nintendo as vice president of marketing in
April 1987, and among his many honors was named
Marketer of the Year by Adweek Magazine and
Corporate Marketer of the Year by the Delaney
Report.
"Sometimes
the term 'industry legend' is overused,"
adds Arakawa. "But in the case of Peter
Main, it is perfectly appropriate. Many common
industry practices were literally invented by
Peter over the last 15 years, and we would not
have achieved our phenomenal success without
him."
