NVIDIA Quadro2 Pro
Graphics Now Available On Next-Generation HP
Workstations; NVIDIA GPUs Featured in HP Itanium-based
Systems
NVIDIA(R)
Corporation (Nasdaq:NVDA) announced today that NVIDIA
Quadro(TM)2 Pro graphics solutions will be used in
Hewlett-Packard Company's line of professional
workstations based on the Intel(R) Itanium(TM) processor.
The Quadro2 Pro is NVIDIA's
fastest workstation solution, delivering unprecedented 3D
and 2D performance for the engineering professional. The
Quadro2 Pro includes a hardware antialiased line engine,
6.4GB/sec. bandwidth enabling work in fully textured mode
while achieving real-time frame rates, and a 64MB unified
frame buffer -- providing ample room for high-resolution,
32bpp textures. With 1.0G pixels/sec. rendering power and
31M triangles/sec. geometry processing power, the Quadro2
Pro is an ideal choice for any design environment.
"NVIDIA works with industry
leaders, including HP, to define the future of graphics
computing," stated Jeff Fisher, vice president of
sales at NVIDIA. "HP's decision to offer the Quadro2
Pro in their next-generation workstations demonstrates
NVIDIA's ability to rapidly deliver optimizations that
take advantage of the leading-edge technology introduced
by the Intel Itanium processor."
"HP workstations equipped
with NVIDIA GPUs embody the cutting-edge of graphics
technology," stated Larry Mahoney, Itanium-based
workstations product manager, HP Technical Computing
Division. "NVIDIA's products are an excellent choice
for HP's Itanium-based workstations because of the
Quadro2 Pro's many Itanium-specific optimizations and
strong compatibility."
The Quadro2 Pro features the
NVIDIA unified driver architecture (UDA), which allows
forward-and-backward as well as top-to-bottom
compatibility, greatly reducing support costs by
simplifying system maintenance. NVIDIA's UDA has been
optimized to take advantage of the many new features
introduced by the Intel Itanium processor, including
support for 64-bit memory addressability and the ability
to take advantage of Intel's Explicitly Parallel
Instruction Computing (EPIC) technology.
