Alchemy 3.0 Announced at GDC 2003; Focus on Cutting Edge Next Generation Console Features Intrinsic Graphics(TM), Inc., the developer of the innovative Intrinsic Alchemy game development platform, has announced the availability of Intrinsic Alchemy 3.0, currently in beta, which boasts a powerful new "Ether" Shader architecture and fully integrated Lua scripting. As with earlier versions, Alchemy's advanced architecture provides peak performance and flexibility for supported hardware devices--Sony PlayStation(R)2, Microsoft(R) Xbox(TM), Nintendo Gamecube(TM) and PC hardware--without sacrificing performance or flexibility. Game code and art assets can therefore be quickly and easily ported to multiple systems, saving time and money. Intrinsic Alchemy 3.0 further builds on this foundation and provides morph target animation acceleration and new improved asynchronous I/O and streaming audio support. Intrinsic Alchemy 3.0 also boasts robust content handling and comprehensive documentation. "Alchemy's powerful object-model and architecture have greatly accelerated our new feature development," said Brian McClendon, Vice President of Engineering at Intrinsic Graphics. "We have built a great infrastructure over the last 4 years, and it is proving very easy to add next-generation features to, both by us and our customers." Comments from the long list of current customers around the world have been overwhelmingly positive. "We have utilized Alchemy in game development for well over a year. We like all of the advantages of this advanced middleware package, and the strong customer support. We have been using 3.0 for over two months and are extremely impressed with the new features," stated Masahito Kurosawa, Chief Programmer, Sega Rosso Co., Ltd. "Upgrading has not been a major issue, and Intrinsic continues to be an excellent technology partner for us." "Alchemy's architecture has allowed us to quickly prototype and develop high end game development tools and content. 3.0 builds on this framework and improves it," stated Tobi Saulnier, Vice President of Product Development at Vicarious Visions. "Alchemy continues to prove to be a great choice for multi-platform development." Evaluation copies are available at http://www.intrinsic.com and at GDC 2003 at booth #738.
