Nokia to Supply
Mobile Entertainment Service Solution to
Radiolinja in Finland; Bringing WAP Games to Its
Customers
Nokia has
delivered Radiolinja with its state-of-the-art
Nokia Mobile Entertainment Service which allows
the Finnish operator to offer WAP (Wireless
Applications Protocol) enabled games to its
mobile subscribers.
Nokia
Mobile Entertainment Service is an preintegrated
and easily deployed service solution for
operators and service providers incorporating
games, platform, facilitation, server hosting and
a developer program. Game application developers
and online content publishers can create
interactive entertainment for WAP enabled mobile
devices with the Nokia Mobile Entertainment
Service. Mobile network operators can provide
vast amount of new, comprehensive value-added
services for their customers via the Nokia
platform.

By
2002, Nokia estimates that more people will
access the Internet via a mobile handset than via
a PC. This predicts tremendous potential for
mobile entertainment and huge market
opportunities for game developers and publishers
as well as mobile network operators. Datamonitor
has recently estimated that there will be close
to 200 million mobile phone users playing
wireless games in US and Europe by 2005 - meaning
that four out of five players will be playing
wireless games.

The
implementation of service platform has been done
and Radiolinja is currently offering seven
different games, such as Stockmarket, ImagePuzzle
and WAP-Quiz. Games will be launched within the
next weeks. In additon to these games Radiolinja
offers games called X-men, Titan AE. Nokia will
maintain and facilitate the solution, offer full
support and develop new games with application
developers. The Nokia Mobile Entertainment
Service is connected with Radiolinja's Nokia
Artuse Messaging Platform, allowing subscribers
to access games via the operator's WAP portal.
