LADYDRAGON.COM - Final Fantasy 9

Final Fantasy IX is the last one of this series that will be created for the PlayStation. Final Fantasy X and XI are presently being developed but for the PlayStation 2.

Final Fantasy IX has 4 discs like FF8 and it is a mix of the old and new style of this series in order to make and outstanding finish on the PlayStation. And most probably the future of this series will evolve into a multiplayer game and will somewhat differ from what we know with new features.

Your starting character is a young thief called Zidane Tribal and you are in a dark room and you need to light a candle in order to continue. Your first objective will be to fight Baku. After your fight with Baku on the Prima Vista Airship, the next character you will control will be Vivi Orunitia a young Black Mage that can use black magic to destroy and attack enemies. Then your adventure will start and further along, he will then be ask to join Zidane as many other character through out the game.

Among them are Princess Garnet Til, Captain Adelberg Steiner, Freya Crescent, Quina Quen, Eiko Carol and Amarant Coral.

All of them have unique abilities like Zildane can steal items from the enemy and Garnet can Summons Eidolons more abilities can be learn as they progress in the game.

Depending on what type of equipment they have they will be able to learn all sorts of abilities. Many weapons are available to collect and to buy, you even have shops that synthesize weapons meaning that they blend two weapons together in order to produce an other.

Final Fantasy IX is like a movie where you can interact in it. Not only you get to play and control different characters but with the new feature called Active Time Event

you can view the story of an other character while you are playing an other which give the story more depth.

Moggle are cute little pigs that you can found at different area where you can tent and save your game. You can also deliver letters for them between moggles and in return you will receive Kupo Nuts that can be exchange for useful items.

Potions, equipments and Tetra Master cards can be found during your adventure.

Two things should be corrected though during combats. when you fight against an enemy no hitting point are display so you never know when your enemy will die. Also if you use any type of item when it is your combat turn like a potion or a minion down and you turn does not come because your enemy has been vanquish you lose the item that you never had the chance to use.

But the first thing you will notice when you start the game is how stunning the graphically the game is and how Yoshikata Amano took full advantage of the PlayStation capabilities when designing this game.

The soundtrack composed by Nobuo Uematsu even though it is sad at some moments does blends well with the story line.

The story is very interesting and unfold in a interactive and interesting way. It also contain humor in it through out the game.
