A new role playing game just appeared on the Playstation console. Published by Sony and developed by Tri-Ace and also by Enix, the makers of the legendary Dragon Quest series (known as Dragon Warrior in north America), the game is called Star Ocean. You can live in another world other than we know and live a fantastic quest to save the world right from your Playstation console.

You have the choice to play two players and will make him or her stronger, smarter and fight monsters. You can play a little boy called Claude Kenni who is a strong fighter or Rena lanford who is a strong magic user. Both meet their destiny on the planet called Milocinia to save the world from the meteorite. Claude and Rena will protect themselves in combat so they can succeed and survive to this deadly new world that the meteorite modified by making strange monsters that are hunting to kill on the planet. The story will make you want to know more and more about what is going to happen later.

Never has an RPG game given such freedom of choice that Star Ocean offers you. It is the most advanced RPG game to date in many ways. First, the freedom you have to move anywhere you want to in this game, and the liberty to create weapons by yourself and use them against the enemy. The interactions between people are also the most impressive to date. One example, if one of your characters dies or gets wounded, one of the other characters might be pissed off, abd become even more powerful, making deadlier attacks on monsters. On the other hand, your player may be sad and be less effective in attacks.

You see your players' expressions all the way through the game and they are very expressive. Star Ocean is also the only game to have so many ways to end the game, more than 80 different endings and each game to get to the end is very long.

There are so many possible ways to end the game that it is virtually impossible for you to see the same ending again if you make a different action. 1000 different items to use, combo moves and a gigantic world to explore is what make this game so strong compared with all other RPG games to date.

There are 3 battle modes to help you make your attacks all depending on your knowledge of RPG games. Standard mode is for helping beginners but restricting the freedom of movements, Semi-active mode is for players that have a certain knowledge in RPG games and give a certain freedom in combats and the full active mode is for experts and gives the player a total freedom to move over the battlefields. Combos is also a great feature in combat, it gives you the opportunity to create your own combination of moves so you can make the enemy suffer more than only one move at a time.

The only problems with Star Ocean is that the dialogue is only in text, no voice interaction. But it is common in RPG games so if you are used to playing games of this type you will not find this problem major at all. There is an obligation to use the saving cartridge to be able to continue where you left. If you do not have it, you will have to restart at the beginning each time you turn off your console or when you die. Also the lack of saving exactly where you want and only be able to save at points in the game is also frustrating sometimes.

The visual effects are astonishing and impressive. The 3D effect is just perfect the and the massive use of 3D polygonals made the graphics of Star Ocean a true work of art. Special effects are also big eye candy to the players as they use items that create explosions or a spell that make a special touch in terms of graphics. The control is not complex to use and easy to learn even if you do not know much about those type of games. The sound and music make a special atmosphere to the game. The atmosphere changes when an event appears and the music fits well in the story and action.

Star Ocean: The second story will excite nearly all the fans of role playing games, because no RPG game to date matches this new one. It is a game designed to live an adventure you never dreamed of and also a game that takes a long time playing before ending it. The estimated time to end the game is 100 hours of playing, so you will have a game that give you many things for the money you will pay for it. When you finish the game, you will be a Hero and admired by everyone on the planet of Milocinia.
