The baseball game of the famous Sammy Sosa! |
In the last version of Triple Play, the 1999 one, the game was severely judged on its low framerate. But it was considered the first baseball simulation game on Playstation that was really good. This time Electronic Arts improved the graphics a lot. In the new features of the game there is the sprinting and the base steal. You only need to press the "X" button to increase your player speed. Also, when you are hitting to the field you have the choice to make a sure hit or a more power one but this one is decreasing your accuracy. The batting control was modified since the 1999 version. You can hit the ball on the top or on the bottom of the ball. That will produce a ground ball or a pop-up ball way up in the air. You do that by simply press the arrow up or down depend on what you want to do. Also you can rotate your player to hit the ball in a certain direction or to adjust your self to the pitch. Like the old version you can make standard or powerful hit and you have again a big choice of hitting strategy. You can make a sacrifice or hit the ball as far as you can. Because of all the licenses Electronic Arts got from the baseball league you will see the real players faces, the real teams, "Sammy Sosa...Home run again." |
"What a catch!" the real stadiums and all the real statistics. You will also be able to do a season, playoffs or home-run challenge. But the most impressive feature is that you can trade some players or create some. You can even play the night. Again, the spectators are left behind. Like all the other game of this category the fans do not have a big place. The sounds effects are sometimes low and the commentary is not always good. Compared to the older version, the framerate is a lot better. The music is also very fun, when a home player go to the field you can listen to a special theme for this player. The facial expressions on the players faces are putting more realism into the game. For example, you can see Mark McGwire jump around when is ball is going far far away. The 3D is impressive and the stadiums have a lot of details. The camera views are fantastic. Finally, it is a baseball game with a lot of natural flavor that makes it more realistic. It will satisfy the baseball fan and many others because it is no longer a timing game when you are at the field but a real strategy baseball game. |
