WWF now with THQ and JAKKS |
THQ/JAKKS Pacific, LLC a joint venture between the two companies who now own the license to release WWF games for the next ten years begins with this title, WWF Wrestlemania 2000. WWF Wrestlemania 2000 features over 50 WWF Superstars like The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, Mankind, the Hardy's boyz and also included the women like Chyna, Ivory,Terri, Jacqueline and Debra. The main menu gives you different game modes to choose from like: Exhibition mode allows you to select a wrestler and between single, Tag, 3 Way and Cage Matches. Then 6 arenas, Raw is War, Sunday Night Heat, Royal Rumble, King of the Ring. Survivor Series WrestleMania or SummerSlam. Also you choose the title you want to play for or create one with the "New Belt" option. In the exhibition, King of the Ring and Royal Rumble you can create your own belt title by choosing the name and how it will look. You can then include it in your Per-Per-View event to be a challenge. But you can not use it in the Road to WrestleMania because it uses the actual belts of the World Wrestling Federation. King of the Ring is like a playoff, 3 to 16 wrestlers can be selected. Road to the WrestleMania is where you start your career and your ultimate goal is to get the WWF Belt and to where you can unlock hidden wrestlers. You can put together your own Pay-Per-View show of up to 15 matches, Royal Rumble has you wrestle and go through 39 other wrestlers. The Edit option allows you to create up to16 wrestlers. When you create a wrestler you create everything from the name, height, weight, entrance music and video on the Titantron, Moves, Appearance and the fighting style. The Data option is where you can see the Belt and the Wrestlers that you have created yourself. You have other options like the time, the Ring Out, Rope Break, and Bloodshed that you can set the way you want.
Here comes Mr. Sucko |
The Rock The interface is confusing and needs to be improved. When you select the option the font will increase and it looks like it is in water and keeps moving all the time, it is quite annoying specialy when you scroll down fast it masks the beginning of the line under it a bit. The edit option is good but not as good as the WWF Attitude edit because you do not start from scratch, you start from an already made wrestler then you change whatever you want. Also whenever there is an entrance of a wrestler, the film animation is always out of focus and blocky. The sound is lacking too. First there is no referees or commentators and the wrestlers do not speak. The background sound when you go through the options does not fit with a wrestling mood. The design of the wrestlers themselves is mixed; the bottom is better designed than the top, the shoulders are kind of separated from the body and the head of the women have an odd nose. The walking is also odd they look like they are moonwalking like Michael Jackson instead of walking normally. Also they walk forward while they are going backwards. Despite all of that the best thing about this game is the gameplay. The postures of the wrestlers are quite accurate like Chyna really moves and stands like herself. The moves are also very fluid, like if you take Jeff Hardy and have him do his famous flips all over the place you would swear it was him for real. They paid attention to nice little details like when you are in a cage match and you try to climb out of it you can shake the cage, pull the other wrestler by the pants and actually see the pants extend. You will notice in the Edit option the huge number of techniques that you can have your player do. Despite the annoying interface, the WWF Wrestlemania 2000 gameplay is where it stands out with all the great fluid movement and little details that they added while wrestling will please the wrestling fans. |
