LADYDRAGON.COM - Adrenix

My first thoughts on this game were "Wow! Look at the awesome graphics in the preview pictures". However, after I got my hands on it and started playing it, my views changed drastically. It has a shallow storyline, boring missions, and the game promises many things that it doesn't live up to. On Playmates web site, they say "Exciting 3D environment plunges you into the action", while the graphics are comparable to the descent series...In fact, the 3dfx version of descent 2 is MUCH better than the 3dfx version of Adrenix. I was NOT impressed by it's graphics, gameplay, storyline, network play, or anything in particular.

In the game, you are Scott Griffin, a former pilot in the elite Anti-Insurrection Squad. The squad had hunted rebels for years, and the rebels had been their worst enemy. Then someone destroys his home and kidnappes his girlfriend. Now a dark conspiracy involving a corporation called Medtech is hunting him. His fiance, Maria, may have been taken for experimentation with a lethal stimulant called "Adrenix". And the rebel forces he once hunted are now his only hope to find Maria and save his own life.

Playing the game without a 3dfx accelerator was simply horrible. In 640x480 mode without the 3d accellerator, the game went SLOW! It was laggy and choppy, and I have a Pentium 200 MMX with 40MB RAM. That is MUCH Higher than the Requirements. If you use 320x240, (Same graphics quality as descent series), the game runs fine, and very smooth. The graphics are VERY Fuzzy, however. I don't see how this company promises 3d graphics when it runs that slow...

Even when I am using the 3dfx card, graphics are not that impressive. Quake 2 totally blows these graphics away. This whole game reminds me of a descent clone with larger tunnels, different textures on the walls, and numerous other cheap things.

In my views, Adrenix isn't really worth it. But you must remember that everyone is different, and you may like a game that I think is the worst game of all time. If you like the 3d flying shooter, and have a fast computer or a graphics accellerator, you may want to consider giving this game a try. Otherwise, don't waste your time. Although if these graphics fool you, go right ahead and be my guest to try it out. :)
