Drive, Drive, Drive ! |
Reflection Interactive, the developer that gave us Destruction Derby 1 & 2, is back now with a very unique game: Driver. Publisher GT Interactive has spent a lot of money promoting this game and justifiably so. Tanner, a stock car driver is now an undercover police officer that is about to infiltrate the Castaldi family, one of the most dangerous organizations in the undercover world. He has left New York for Miami to start working for them. In the main menu, you have 6 options to choose from. Undercover option is the main game where you can play over 40 missions. Your first mission is called the interview, which consists of you proving your driving skills in a underground parking lot. If you succeed at it, then you move on with the game which will bring you to Miami, San-Francisco, Los Angeles, and then back to New York. In the interview, they give you a lot of skills that you must perform. Making a loop or a 360 are some of the moves you must do. In the missions, you are the driver of the get away car, and you need to do specific things like pick up someone at a bank at a set time and of course timing is the key so your timing must be flawless, not too early and not too late. There is a training mode where you can choose to train in the dessert or the parking lot. In both places you have a kind of phantom car in front of you that you must follow that will show you how to perform all these skills. Also they show you exactly which button to press on the controller to do those skills. When you finish the final mission you will be given some cheats codes that you can now enter in the cheat option. The Car Chases option allows you to replay your saved chases or view four chases already in game. The "Take a ride" option is quite fun. You drive around in the city of your choice in the day or night time in a very realistic way. You have traffic lights and you must stop or else the cops will go after you. Becareful! " |
" Pretty banged up! " Not only if you run the light, but let say you are waiting at a long light and you have a few cars in front of you then you decide to pass all of them on your left. Well usually there is a cop in that line that will go after you. Quite fun and very realistic because you see the police car, but its too late, then the police see you and bam they are chasing after you. Then you have the driving games option where you have 6 game to choose from: Pursuit, where you chase an other car; Getaway, where the cops are after you; Cross Town Checkpoint, where you go to one red arrow to the other the fastest way you can; Trail Blazer, where you must reach all the red arrow in a specific time, each arrow adds a second to your time; Survival is where you have about 2 or 3 cops after you so get out of there is all you need to do; and Dirt Track, here you must drive in between cones, but this time on a dirt track. It is very unfortunate that you can not play with others in this game. It would have been fun to play against an other player or a few more. The graphics are clearer then on the PlayStation. You will be able to see that each city has been very well designed. Each city was designed block by block with the back alley too. You will be able to drive over 50 miles in each cities. This game is highly realistic too. If you start driving on the sidewalk you will see the pedestrians run away from you. Also when you run in to a car the effects are spectacular, debris flying everywhere, and to complete it all you can replay your chase and view it from many angles at anytime. No wonder that feature is called, "Film director". Driver is what it is called - a great game for driving fans. No need to adjust the pressure in your tires, just sit back, choose your view and mode, then DRIVE ! |
