E3Expo 2000 Draws 62,000 Industry Professionals; Next Interactive Entertainment Trade Event Scheduled May 17-19, 2001, in Los Angeles

    LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 2000--The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3Expo) 2000, which concludes today at the Los Angeles Convention Center, attracted 62,000 industry professionals from around the world, according to the show's owner, the Interactive Digital Software Association (IDSA).
    Approximately 430 exhibitors filled 550,000 net square feet of space, displaying new interactive entertainment products and next-generation technology that will entertain hundreds of millions of Americans in the coming years. The show will return to Los Angeles next year, May 17-19, 2001.

    In addition, debuting this year, E3Expo's "First Looks 2000" program put the spotlight on more than 1,250 never-before-seen products, further establishing E3Expo as the premier venue to launch new interactive entertainment content.
    "The amazing new game software and next-generation computer and console technology presented at E3Expo 2000 are truly the future of entertainment," said IDSA President Douglas Lowenstein. "The thousands of titles introduced at the show, designed for the more than 60 percent of Americans who play games, reflect that interactive entertainment will emerge as the most important form of entertainment in the 21st century."

    As the world's leading interactive entertainment trade event, E3Expo 2000 offered unique networking and educational opportunities for industry professionals from retailers to game developers. In addition to the unsurpassed business opportunities on the show floor, E3Expo's in-depth series of workshops and conferences, led by more than 150 top professionals, explored the most important issues facing the industry today. America Online President Bob Pittman kicked off the three-day event with a keynote address on May 11.
