Top Secret Magazine StarCraft

This is one awesome Real Time Strategy Game. Blizzard did something with StarCraft that not many other companies can do: Keep the requirements low. StarCraft only requires a Pentium 90 with 16mb ram, and it is an awesome game! There are three *unique* species, which means no coppying units (like total annihilation did), and the game is balanced, meaning each species can counter each other. Each race has it's own strengths and weaknesses, and there is an unlimited number of strategies you can use.

There are three species in StarCraft: The Terran, Protoss, and Zerg. The Terran are humans, and have things you would expect humans to have. The Terrans are convicts from Earth that have been sent to far away planets to make a new civilization. Most of the Terran units are mechanical, which can be both good and bad. Terrans have cool stuff like nuclear warheads, Battle Cruisers, and bunkers. The Zerg are a biological race...everything is made of flesh and bone...no machinery or advanced technology here...Just a sick, nasty, powerful bunch of critters. :) The way to win with Zerg is mass numbers. You literally make hundreds of guys and send them into the enemy base to win.

The third and final race are the Protoss. The Protoss are the most advanced race in StarCraft. They have plasma shields to protect their units, plus their units are the most powerful in the whole game, however the most expensive, too...Zerg units are very inexpensive, but the zerg units are also generally weak. Terran are the people in the middle...they don't have the best/worst units, and aren't the most/least expensive...

In the Single Player Campaign, the storyline is awesome. I wouldn't want to give it out, but it's awesome. In a nutshell, you are terrans and start to find your bases are being infected by an unknown race [zerg]. Later, you gain friends and enemies, rebell against the Confederate forces, and team up with the Protoss to destroy the Zerg. The cutscenes in the game are hilarious! You have to see them!

Everyone should give this great game a try. Even if you don't generally like real time strategy games, you should still at least try it. It has great 640x480 graphics, wonderful sounds, free play on Battle.Net, and is way better than WarCraft 2 (In my opinion..other people's opinions differ.) StarCraft is a great game, and the expansion set for it will make it even better!
