Saitek Achieves Record Sales for FY 2006/2007 PC Gaming and PC Input Device Product Sales Grew by up to 65% with Key Products Enjoying #1 Placement in Their Category TORRANCE, Calif. & LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Saitek Group (www.saitek.com) has closed its 2006/2007 financial year with record sales of its PC Gaming and PC Input Device products. Retail audit data shows sales of Saitek PC Games Controllers grew by 40% in the US, 65% in France, 20% in the UK and 7% in Germany (Q4 2006 vs. Q4 2005). Saiteks PC Game Controller market share also grew to a record 25% worldwide1 for the calendar year 2006. In input devices, fourth quarter 2006 retail audit data shows Saitek to be the fourth largest brand in keyboards in the US (by value). For calendar 2006, Saiteks growth of 26% in keyboards and mice significantly out-performed its main competitors1. Non-gaming PC input devices now account for over a third of Saiteks sales. We are pleased that retail audit confirms our record sales growth, said Bill McMahon, CEO for the privately owned Saitek Group. Weve taken advantage of the resurgence in PC gaming and the growing demand from increasingly design-conscious customers for innovative, well-engineered products. Through our strong relationships with trade partners worldwide, this has enabled us to develop the business significantly. Saitek is also delighted to see their top placement on NPD Groups ranking of joystick sales for the calendar year 2006. According to NPDs figures, Saiteks highly successful controller (the X52, designed for flight simulation enthusiasts) was the top grossing joystick of the year2. This continues to be the only flight controller on the market to include its own back-lit multifunction display. Saiteks other products also received record sales according to NPD Groups data. Aviator, the newly launched retro-looking joystick, ranked in the top 4 in December. The growing popularity of Saiteks backlit keyboards propelled them into the top 10 keyboards sold in the US during December. According to GFK (Germany) the success of Saiteks mice has propelled the brand to the number 6 position in only the 2nd year after launching the design-led range, and Saiteks coloured notebook mice were 3rd amongst all notebook mice sold in Germany in December 2006. Highlights:
ABOUT SAITEK Saitek entered the Electronic Chess and Intelligent Games Market in 1979 and rapidly became the market leader - a position the company retains today. In the 1990s, Saitek diversified into PC Peripherals, developing and manufacturing high-end products with the emphasis on quality, design and innovation. Saitek launched its first PC Game Controller in 1994 and by 2004 had taken the number two position worldwide, dominating the flight simulation sector. The award-winning range was broadened to include products such as the Cyborg joystick, X52 Flight Control System and a range of successful PC gamepads. A further expansion led Saitek into developing a PC Input Devices range, designed to improve and enhance computing in the home, office and on the move. Building on its experience of interaction with PCs, in 2005 Saitek launched a range of innovative and practical audio products. These products give the user the freedom to listen to music where they want and how they want and, above all, to take control of their digital entertainment environment. 1 Areas covered by retail audit reports from NPD (USA), GFK (Germany & France) and Chart-track (UK) 2 Ranked Items by Select Categories (POS) Joysticks; Total Retail; Year Ending DEC 2006
