Russia wins 3-2 over France at the Fed Cup 2011 By LadyDragon MOSCOW, Russia--(LadyDragon.com)07/02/11-- Saturday was not a good day for Russia, Maria Sharapova and Svetlana Kuznetsova both lost their matchs but Sunday was an entire new day at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow, Russia to give the first win to France in the Fed Cup 2011. First, Russian team captain Shamil Tarpishchev replaced Maria Sharapova by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and she wins her match 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 against Alize Conet to give Russia some hope. After Svetlana wins her match 6-4, 6-4 against Virginie Razzano for the tie. Then Anastasia and Dinara Safina won their match 7-6(4) 6-0 against Julie Coin and Pauline Parmentier so Ruussia was able to turn it around and has a great day after all. I am really happy that I managed to help Russia get this victory, and I would like to say a big thank you to Svetlana, as she really helped me in this doubles match and I think we had a really good match, and I am just so happy, We had never played doubles together before, so it was the first time we had played together on court. This might explain why we had a few problems at the beginning, but things became easier as the match went on and I think that was reflected by the scoreline in the second set, said Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. It promises to be a great match, and I am sure everyone remembers Kuznetsovas match with Schiavone, both in the 2007 Fed Cup final, where Svetlana won, and of course at this years Australian Open where she lost a marathon third set, said the Russian team captain Shamil Tarpishchev . However, our team will be strengthened ahead of that tie, as Vera Zvonareva will play for us, so I am counting on us winning that tie. |
